Laptop AC adapters. commonly known as chargers, the good, the bad and the ugly details you need to know before you buy a replacement.
There are a few things consumers should be aware of before they go about purchasing a compatible laptop power adapter. Finding a good Quality compatible AC adapter
for most laptops you can buy a compatible charger, there is a myriad of companies churning these out like theres no tomorrow, Some are well made and others are not so good, in our opinion some are as good if not better than the originals, others are ok but won’t last too long, usually the cable breaks or the tip falls apart, others are decidedly dangerous, these sometimes carry false CE marks and will damage your laptop or battery or both, by far the majority of compatible AC adapters are not safe, some of these are a serious fire and electrocution risk, power adapter, there also seems to be a new trend where compatibles are made to look like the originals.
if you look on some well known auction site you will notice there are about 20+ battery and AC adapter sellers who miraculously seen to be located in the same location, if this does not strike you as odd then it should, we are forever repairing motherboards damaged by these cheap chargers and batteries, in many cases the motherboard is left beyond economical to repair and those that are repaired you still need to purchase a charger, battery or both so what have you really saved, the price of these compatible products are set low so as to attract the unwary in buying them but do they cover the cost of damage caused to to computer, of course not they use terms and conditions to protect themselves, £20 or less for a charger & £45 or less for a battery will get you just that, a poor quality charger and a poor quality battery, you want quality for that price forget it you will never get it, been there done that, lived to tell the tale.
A really good compatible battery will set you back at least £60 and a original charger or a really good compatible charger will cost you at least £20, we back up with a no quibble warranty, no excuses, no terms and conditions, just a straight forward warranty that says if the charger is defective within the warranty period we replace it, end of
it is not uncommon to lose, break, or desire an extra compatible laptop power adapter. the power adapter is the most important things you need to have a functioning laptop.
I brought a random sample of 8 AC adapters and 8 different batteries for the same laptop from a well known auction site and put them on load test 1x exploded as soon as it was plugged in, 3x lasted for about 2 weeks, 2x caught fire within 6 hours of use and 1x lasted 6 weeks of normal usage, 1x lasted 5 months, so in conclusion no a single compatible charger was worth it and a few was even deadly, with the batteries i had a similar experience except for one high capacity compatible battery which kept around 50% charge after 12 months, the others 3x cells exploded, 4x stopped holding charge within 6 weeks, 1x of the batteries damaged the mainboard on my test laptop.
my advice is stay away from compatibles and if you already have one check it and if its getting too hot to hold its probably dangerous so stop using it and send it back or put it in the bin, Hopefully if you read the above and take note i migh
